“Important factors in our decision to implement the GuardianEdge Encryption Anywhere Hard Disk were its ease of deployability and manageability.”

    Calling Up Safe Data

How do you define your network edge? Is it the router through which all your Web traffic must travel to and from your LAN? Or perhaps the firewall that stands between the WWW and the LAN?

Or how about your sales reps' cell phones--which could be... well... anywhere right about now?

GuardianEdge this week pushed their core product offering--the Data Protection Platform--even further to the edge with the announcement of their GuardianEdge Smartphone Protection component, which seeks to add the platform's policy-based data protection features to Corporate users of Palm, Pocket PC, Windows Mobile, and Symbian handheld devices. With Smartphone Protection, an organization could setup policies specifying the automatic encryption of data as well as which applications, ports, and external devices can and cannot be accessed from the device.

Further, the devices can be wiped based on multiple criteria--such as multiple failed password attempts--protecting the device's sensitive data from mis-use by Bad Guys. Read more about the new Smartphone Protection component and the Data Protection Platform in general in our freshly updated product briefing, link below.

Other key entries in this week's collection of highlighted Enterprise IT Planet Product Guide briefings include a new IPS Sensor from Cisco with beefy performance now up to 4 Gb/sec; and a new appliance from NETGEAR with support for simultaneous IPSec and SSL VPN tunnels.
